Itong nakaraang linggo ay under medication si Tito Dan because of ear infection. Nakuha nito sa paglilinis ng ear canal using a scooper. Well nandiyan na iyan. Kahapon ay parade nila. Lahat ng mga High School beauty contestants ay nakasakay sa isang float (an Izuzo Elf na medyo kalawangin daw decorated with flowers, real and fake). Dapat dalawa daw na elves iyan (plural form of elf, he-he nagpapatawa 'ata itong Tito ko) pero hindi nakarating iyong isa. Parents na naman ang gumastos para diyan. E, sino pa ba? Sabi nga daw ni teacher Bryan, you must be lucky to have to children won the elimination. To be a mere finalist it's already an achievement. Parinig pa nga ng teacher e, parents you should invest for your children. Ayon naman sa school director, someday daw ay may maririnig na lang tayong crowned beauty queen of the Miss Philippines Beauty Pageant from the rank of the talented students of this school.
Of course lakarin mo nga from Teacher's Village, Quezon City to Woodrow Hills Subdivision, Antipolo City? And speaking of my Tita, I would like to share with you a letter she wrote para kay pasyonista noon nasa Baguio sila for a retreat.
To my dearest darling Gillian,
Hello, how are you doing, my dear child? We missed you terribly.
Anyway, here's wishing that your field trip and retreat have indeed been successful.
Well, what can I say? Timne passes by so swiftly! Just a while back, you were a cute, cheeky very active baby in my arms, smiling even while you were asleep. Now, look at you: a tall, young, sweet, witty, with big legs (ha ha) but kidding aside, a stunner but a loving, God-fearing fashionista who is ready to meet the outside world with your kind of bravado in facing the challenges that everybody out there will hurl towards you. Yes, you are determined to confront any obstacle that will come your way and I believe in you, darling daughter, that with His help, you will emerge victorious in everything you set ourt to do!
Bear this in mind, however: consistency, perseverance, determination, hardwork, gratefulness, strategy-driven, singleness of purpose and support from the Lord and your family and friends are what should motivate you in pursuing your dream. I believe tha you can prove to the world, Gillian, that you'll be a successful lady who will accomplish what you and I have desired for you, right?
In a few months from now, you will be entering the portals of higher education and learning: whether it be in UP, Messiah College, UST, FEU or PUP, a simple reminder: while you are obtaining the kind of education that would catapult you in your profession, be a humble servant of the Lord in everything you do. How can you manifest that? Study diligently and with concentration, deal with others with cordiality and sincerity, stay lowing to your family, be a team builder and a player and be alert and aware of what is going on around you. In other words, pay attention to your environment, pay attention to what your heart and mind are telling you, and pay attention to what the Lord wants you to do!
I may sound too serious, right? But this is a rare occasion to say my wishes and challenges to you. Girl, I believe in you, I know that with His blessings and provision, everything will turn out fine and fall into place. Go For It And Do it! Rah-ra-rah!
Finally, here's praying that you have a safe trip back home as we long to hug, kiss and embrace you in our arms.
Love always,
Mama Beth
That's the letter of my Tita Beth to her beloved daughter Gillian. To everything you said, wa-na-ko-sey. Bow na lang me, after all, among all my Titas you are my best friend an an idol.
